About Me
Hi, I’m Madara Premawardhana - a researcher, technologist, and public science communicator passionate about using simulation, AI, and data to solve real-world problems.
Currently, I’m completing a PhD in Computing at the University of Buckingham, where my research focuses on digital twins for solar energy systems. I design intelligent virtual models that simulate environmental conditions, optimize solar power output, and support the shift toward a Net-Zero future.
My academic journey builds on a strong foundation in software engineering - from developing military-grade simulations in Sri Lanka to creating immersive urban digital twins in Unreal Engine. I blend technical depth with a human-centered approach, ensuring that innovation remains grounded in impact, accessibility, and inclusion.
Beyond the lab, I’m a STEM advocate and award-winning science communicator, regularly speaking at public events like Soapbox Science and mentoring future researchers.
